Food Pyramids

 

Bars represent trophic levels: Width of bar represents a quantity of the organism

Pyramids of number: this incorporates numbers of organisms

Trophic levels can be wider or narrower as you ascend levels, as this depends on numbers of organisms.

 

Pyramids of biomass: Biomass g/m2   : this incorporates size of organisms

Tend to be larger at bottom, and rows above shrink in size each time the trophic level ascends.
